报告摘要:

Scarcity of network resources might be caused by reduction in network capacity (e.g., due to a disaster), increase in offered traffic, or both. To combat a disaster, it is important that critical data located in affected areas be evacuated to secure locations.  Accordingly, we investigate the use of satellite networks to perform this evacuation. Another situation where network resources can become scarce is when a network is being driven at high utilization levels, leading to congestion situations, called Resource Crunch. Noting that some traffic demands have flexible bandwidth requirements, we study how to increase the carried traffic (and revenue) under Resource Crunch.
